I think the University Center is a really important asset for students just because that's where most of our student support services are. I'm always telling people if they have a problem with wondering which classes they have to take or wondering how student loans work, things like that... I always send them in there.
We have so many resources here at the University Center. Such as our Financial Aid Office, Student Accounts Office, Admissions. They're here to really support students in all sorts of ways, whether it's allowing you to find scholarships, or being able to pay your remaining balances, or just wanting to talk to somebody and finding a way to guide them and point them in the right directions in the kind of resource that they need here at the university.
The staff are always really welcoming and really open to talking just whenever -- even if they're busy doing something else -- they make time for their students because that's who they work for. That's what they see it as. They see it as they work for the students and so they're available to the students and they do whatever they can to help them.
We hold both on-campus visits and virtual campus visits through Zoom. So we're able to accommodate students on a personal kind of relation where they can sit down, meet with an Admissions Counselor, be able to meet with faculty, other staff, and get to learn about our resources more on a personal level, rather than kind of a vague understanding. So I think because we're a smaller university, we're able to be a more personal base for incoming students.
Everyone has an Admissions Counselor when they first come. My admissions counselor was really important for me just because I was applying for a really important scholarship here and they really helped me just navigate that entire process. I didn't know how to apply for such a big scholarship and what I needed to do. So they just kept in touch with me really closely and helped me navigate that entire process.
I recommend a prospective student to visit campus that is a great way to get to know if that's the place you can call a second home. When you tour make sure to stop by the University Center that is a great place to have a warm welcome and get to know your peers from the start.
