Hello, my name is Cole Koenig. I'm a Senior Business Administration major here at the University of Providence. I am part of the men's soccer team. And I'm here to show you the McLaughlin Center home of Argo Athletics. So let's go take a look inside.
So on the other side of these doors, we have the gymnasium which seats 1200 capacity. On the south end, there is a student section and in the middle, there's reserved padded seating for ticket holders. Our mascot is Jason The Argonaut, because in 1963, one of the sisters in charge at the time, had watched the movie "Jason and the Argonauts" and decided she liked it so much, she wanted to make him the mascot. So let's go in.
The McLaughlin Center features one of the best fitness centers in the Frontier Conference. It has over 20 cardio machines and 40 weightlifting equipment machines, those of which include cable machines, TRX bands, and 15 barbell racks. In addition, our exercise science program also utilizes the facility for various projects within the class.
So here we have our athletic training room, we have three fully trained and licensed athletic trainers to ensure physical wellness and top performance for athletes. And our exercise science class also does internship opportunities right here in-house. So here we have our trophy cases at the front of McLaughlin so that when our student-athletes walk by, they're reminded of University of Providence's history of athletic success.
So that was a brief look into the McLaughlin center for our student-athletes. Thank you for letting me walk you through it. And as always, go Argos!
